Module Five

Digital Storytelling involves many different webpages such as itunes, podcast and youtube. A way to use digital storytelling in my kindergarten classroom is by allowing the children to create their own podcast on a narrative, information report or recount they have written or drawn. This allows the teacher to listen and then assess children orally on their comprehension of specific units of work. In kindergarten we also use youtube as an educational tool, as it caters to all different types of learners. We have found educational shows such as Sid the Science Kid and Superwhy which enhance the students knowledge on specific instructions.

MODULE 4

Slide.com

This was a much easier way to display photos on the blog. It was more simple and direct that flicka as I did not have to go somewhere else to customise it. Give it a go.

Module Four

Creating a flicka was easy, all you have to do is download photos, write a title and a description. Then click slideshow. I found it difficult using Picknic which is supposed to make your flicka flashy. I discovered that it cost money and you had to edit every photo. You could not do this as a group. Anyway, I hope you enjoy KE's gardening adventures.

Adding a voki

Get a Voki now!

I decided to see if I could add my own voki and it worked. It is really easy to do. Just go to www.voki.com and follow the instructions. It is that easy. I decide to use my voki to welcome everyone to my blog. However, you can use it for all types of blogs, whether it be one for your class or your own personal blog. Have a go.

Module Three

Google docs are a simple way to create documents, presentations, spreadsheets and forms to share with other people. Today, I created a googledoc for our kindergarten program. To ensure that we don't lose all the ideas we have in regards to learning centres, I have sent the HSIE program to my two grade partners. Now we can edit this learning centres program online rather than on paper. This ensures that we will ever lose any ideas we have in regards to the activties we create for our learning centres. The best bit is we can do it at home without having to worry about whether we have saved the program onto our USB. It also allows all of us to see what has been added without having to then go back to school and add it on to our program. Saves paper and time, what more could you ask?!

Module 2

Decided to see what else you could do once you created a blog. I found some gadgets that I have chosen to use for my blog. There are so many to chose from. You can add a google search engine gadget, a daily puppy gadget (this shows a picture of a puppy every day), a shrek forever countdown (countdown until new shrek movie, I have placed this on my blog as I love shrek) and other wonderful gadgets that link to different web pages. This showed me that each blog is different as it incorporates our personality, even if the information is the same.

Module Two

Wow, who knew creating a blog would be so simple. The instructions were easy to follow and I enjoyed choosing the layout for my blog. I have seen my colleagues use blogs as part of their classroom teaching and learning, but I was unsure how it could be applied to kindergarten. After looking at some of the blogs I realised that having a blog in kindergarten is a great way to inform the parents on what is happening in kindergarten. Whilst also giving parents and children opportunities to enhance their learning through projects placed on the blog. This inspiration was from the blog - Art projects for kids.

MODULE ONE

I had nevere heard of igoogle before I began this course and I was surprised at how easy it was to set up. My igoogle page is filled with gadgets that allow me to access websites that I use every day. These being hotmail, gmail and facebook. This is beneficial as I am able to access these websites through the gadgets and not through typing the email address or finding it in the my favourites colummn of the internet connection. I also created my own to do list, which reminds me of things that need to be complete each day. I have also changed my homepage to igoogle as it is surprisingly easier to access websites and gadgets quicker.

This Web2.0 tool has enhanced my teaching practice as I am able to use the gadgets on my igoogle homepage to link to websites that link to various curriculum practices in kindergarten . For example the weather gadget is a great tool for the weather unit the kindergarten children will be completing this year.
